Creating Quotes
Learn how to create and send professional quotes to customers.
Creating quotes is the core workflow in GlassQuote Pro. This guide walks you through creating your first quote from start to finish.
Starting a New Quote
- Click New Quote from the dashboard or Quotes page
- You can start from an existing customer or create a new one
Vehicle Information
Using VIN Decode
The fastest way to get accurate vehicle info:
- Enter the 17-digit VIN in the VIN field
- Click Decode or wait for auto-decode
- Vehicle year, make, model, and body style are filled automatically
- Review the detected features (ADAS, rain sensor, heated, etc.)
VIN decode uses NHTSA data and is free. For more detailed glass specifications, you may need to verify with your parts supplier.
Manual Selection
If you don't have the VIN:
- Select Year from the dropdown
- Select Make (filtered to common manufacturers)
- Select Model (filtered by make)
- Choose Body Style (sedan, SUV, truck, etc.)
- Check applicable Features (ADAS, rain sensor, etc.)
Adding Line Items
Glass Parts
- Click Add Part
- Search or select the glass type (windshield, door glass, etc.)
- Enter the Cost (your cost from supplier)
- The Price is calculated using your markup rules
- Add notes if needed (part number, special instructions)
Labor
- Click Add Labor
- Select the labor type from your configured rates
- Adjust quantity if needed (usually 1)
Services
- Click Add Service for additional items:
- Disposal fee
- Mobile service charge
- Calibration service
- Rush fee
ADAS Calibration
If the vehicle has ADAS features, you'll see a warning if calibration isn't included. Add calibration service to the quote before sending.
Vehicles with these features typically require calibration:
- Forward collision warning
- Lane departure warning
- Adaptive cruise control
- Automatic emergency braking
Quote Summary
Review the quote summary before sending:
- Subtotal - Parts + labor + services
- Tax - Calculated on taxable items
- Total - Final customer price
- Margin - Your profit on the job
Sending the Quote
- Click Send Quote
- Choose delivery method:
- Email - Send directly to customer email
- SMS - Send text with quote link
- PDF - Download or print PDF
- Add a personal message if desired
- Click Send
Quote Status
Track quotes through their lifecycle:
- Draft - Not yet sent
- Sent - Delivered to customer
- Viewed - Customer opened the quote
- Accepted - Customer approved
- Declined - Customer rejected
- Expired - Past validity date
Converting to Job
When a customer accepts:
- Click Convert to Job
- Schedule the installation date/time
- Assign a technician
- The job appears on the calendar
Tips for Better Quotes
- Respond quickly - Faster quotes win more jobs
- Be thorough - Include all applicable services
- Add notes - Explain ADAS requirements and what's included
- Follow up - Check on quotes that haven't been viewed
